My room is basically empty except for my bed, computer/desk, birdcage, and fan. It even has grey walls lol. This is mostly because my preferred horde is old books and they are pretty expensive so my collection is small. I also like maps, historical trinkets/artifacts, and indegenous art but I am unemployed lol.

I don’t dislike what I currently have but I do wish I had unorganized stacks of books everywhere (if only my bird would not poop on them)

I have organized chaos. Little piles of chaos, neatly in their own shelf, drawer, corner, etc instead of just everywhere in the open. At first glance, it seems neat and tidy. Just don’t open the closet unless you want a cartoon style avalanche of stuff to fall on you.

Slowly building a collection of manga, stuffed animals/plushies, games, CDs/DVDs/1 Blu-ray, and at this point a lot of cords in a drawer.

So I’m definitely leaning towards the hoard of trinkets type of autism.

In my experience most people fall in between horder and own nothing. In the Autism population there are a few people in the extremes and they are hard to get along with.

I wouldn’t call my room barren but I hate random stuff lying around. I don’t understand trinkets, souvenirs, collectibles exposed and collecting dust.

Hey, those aren’t just any trinkets, those are my Incredibly Specific Brand Limited Edition Single-Release Collector’s trinkets which you could only get from attending a specific convention in May of 2009.

I hored lots of dumb shit. Mostly optical media and hard drives. I’m a data hoarder lol. I like old books too. I have a copy of Paradise Lost from 1928 I believe. I tried reading it and got bored though. Maybe I should try it again now that I’m older. I’m jealous of your bird though. I want a feathery friend too!

Barren walls, neat small hordes of interesting things on bookshelves and in drawers, all my furniture is either beech wood or its grey or black. I was a bit more of an interest hoarder when I was younger, but then I lived with a trinket collector and I developed an aversion to too much stuff so now I get rid of stuff I dont use.

Balanced. Not a overstocked thrift shop, not an isolation chamber.

I recommend looking at DearModern’s video’s. He makes video’s on how to design a living space as comfortable as possible.

Not in terms of looks, but in terms of feng shui. And not the spiritual kind either. Those who developed feng shui, found out how we as animals, scan our enviroment for threats. And positioning furniture, decorating halls and making zones can contribute to make a space feel safe and cozy.

My hoarding compulsion flips between electronic doodads, pens, and (rarely) pretty rocks. Who rocks what’s going to happen when I finally accept cats into my home.

My rooms are covered in cables, motors, microcontrollers, etc. Wall to wall desks, soldering setup, 3d printing setup, music studio setup, temp protect setup, main gaming rig, etc. There are just kind of piles of laptops and PC parts. Oh and I have a home lab too. I need a garage but will never be able to afford it

The walls, they be empty. The shelves, cupboards, and drawers, though? Kinda overflowing.

I had a former coworker come pick me up one day after work to go for sushi and catch up. I just got home from work and needed a shower.

Tried to get him to wait outside because it was a beautiful day. Nah, he wanted to chill in my room. First thing he did was call my room a jail cell…

I’ve upgraded since then. Now I have a bunch of pothos plants and a depressed chilli pepper plant I keep watering because this creepy, demonic little puking worm lives in there. Only seen it a few times but it’s there. I throw bits of food in the pot to keep it happy :)
