As true as that may be, what’s the deal with all the times I’ve read stories of people setting up and configuring everything the way they want, and then after installing whatever particular updates manually, then MS reverts a bunch of settings back the way they want?

I dunno, but when I got my HP laptop that shipped with Windows 10, I got to an initial setup screen that asked me something like what’s my mother’s middle name or maiden name or something like that, for sake of password recovery I believe.

Even though I’m sure I could have entered in any random nonsense that I’d remember, I was like what effing business is it of the OS to ask such private details?

I didn’t even finish the setup and first boot, I shut it down right then and formatted and installer Linux Mint MATE 20, and I couldn’t be happier.

Isn’t it just wonderful how M$ can just screw you without your consent? To hell with Windows!

I wasn’t suggesting that I’d expect newer DirectX to work on older versions of Windows. I was suggesting that I would have expected newer DirectX standards to still be backwards compatible with older DirectX standards.

Sigh, I guess Satya Nadella decided to scrap backwards compatibility. Oh well, I switched to Linux after Windows 8 came out anyways. 🤷‍♂️

Guess not, but as far as I ever knew, M$ has been known to try to maintain backwards compatibility for longer than most users would even consider necessary.

I’m not sure on that, but it’s entirely possible.

I went into a public restroom in a gas station once that was set up with a motion sensor. But I didn’t immediately know that. It kinda freaked me out for a bit when after like 3 minutes the entire room went pitch black dark. I thought their breaker kicked off or something, while sitting on the toilet.

If it’s gonna be on a timer, it ought to be set for more like 10 minutes or something. I dunno about everyone else, but I don’t tend to do much of any significant movement when sitting on the toilet to keep the lights and fan on.

Oh, I cussed that motherfucker out when he said that shit to me. At the moment he has 11 dogs of his own, and it’s like every 2 or 3 months or so he tells us either one of his dogs had a litter of puppies, or that one or more of his dogs died and he buried them in his back yard. Wonder fucking why?.. 🤬☹️☠️

And yes his house is absolutely filthy! I’d report his ass to the cops for animal abuse, but one of his neighbor friends he regularly visits is a cop, and they live so close that the cop can hear his dogs barking practically all the time, so my hands are tied…

We only have one dog here, and he’s well cared for. We’d never knowingly feed him anything that isn’t good for him, he’s fixed and vaccinated, regularly bathed, doesn’t have any fleas or any health issues that we know of.

I’m sorry but not sorry for my little ‘rant’ here, but that shit just ain’t right, yet I can’t do anything about it. 🤷‍♂️
