I’ve been running Mint on my Dell XPS 9370 (methinks) for years and it’s always worked just fine. Only the fingerprint scanner just won’t work, not even with fprintd; it can set up a finger but never to use that same finger afterwards.

I love the customisability of KDE

I read this often but found KDE so difficult to customise. XFCE or Cinnamon is what I’d consider extremely customisable, KDE doesn’t even consistently listen to what theme colour I set :-(

Ah, I do use Mint on my dev laptop but Bazzite on my gaming PC, each has their own usage.

It’s really just Fedora with different defaults, pre-installed software (mostly for Steam, MangoHUD, etc.) and a welcome-screen that helps you set up different software.

There’s an atomic Fedora spin made for gaming, Bazzite, and the experience has been to install, and just go. Everything works, everything is set up for gaming and performance monitoring, it’s actually baffling how good this is!

I realise I’ sounding like a shill, but genuinely it’s great and seems to be what you’re looking for. You can always just try it in a VM!

Turn off JavaScript, it stops the banner from loading. This works for most of these sites.

This can be done per-site using uBlock Origin, as well:

1. Click op UBO so it opens the pop up as shown below
2. Click on the JavaScript button on the right, so a red cross appears over it as shown below
3. Click on the reload-button that shows up above it.

This works both on desktop browsers as well as on Firefox/Fennec on Android

I also can’t listen to podcasts but mostly because I’m quite deaf and I understand 70% of speech through lip-reading ☹️

My grandma is the opposite of this, he embraces learning new technology and wants to stay informed with new developments.
So far my dad is like this as well.
I strive to become like them, they’re both pretty great people all-round!

I think with “ro access” they meant “read-only access”.

I think it’s because in the US downloading and owning is by far not as risky as sharing is.
