That’s not really how sex and gender work, as the other person already pointed out, but in reality the distinction is much simpler. When talking about humans:

Male/Female: adjectives

Man/Woman: nouns

She is a woman. She’s a female professor. She is talking to her male colleague. He’s a man.

It’s really as simple as that.

The only time you’d use female/male as nouns is when talking about animals.

The lion is on guard, as another male approaches. The females keep their distance.

I actually had a similar discussion with a friend a while back! Ideally, I’d say you convey the spirit of the scientific method, so the new civilization skips the first few millennia of mysticism and alchemy, and goes straight to rigorous discovery. Trying to put any individual fact in there seems hopeless when measures against the flood of knowledge we have now.

Maybe something along the lines of

True understanding is gained though falsifiable theories, experiments, and challenges from your peers, until that which fails to be disproven can be accepted as the truth

and it’s too niche to have a reasonable chance of creating an active fork. but the stuff happening in their community is simply vile, and as a queer person I won’t feel comfortable to use software developed by open bigots
