  • I recently got Lunacid, a RPG that takes inspiration from Kings Field and Shadow Tower lineage made by a solo dev. It’s a great game I suggest you pick it up btw.

It has pronouns selector in character creation with some zhe/zher stuff. It has no affect on any in game dialog or stats. The dev put it in just to get people like this upset. I didn’t realize this until I looked in the steam community discussions and saw the amount of people seething about it with the devs themselves taunting them in the comments.

The amount of people who genuinely get hot and bothered by this was surprising to me. I’m not really a gender identity orientated person so its not something I feel strongly about but I understand its important for some and just picked my prefered ones then moved on with the game. I respect the power move making bigoted chuds and squares salty at the cost of some sales.

  • You can’t just show sackboy and littlebigplanet in the thumbnail. you gave me hope it would be an article about how mediamolicule is back and lbp4 being announced. I gave up consoles after the ps3 but if theres one exclusive that could rope me back in it would be that. Fuck Sony you had one good series that I would love to bond over with my kids and you let it die a slow horrible death. If you played your cards right you could have had a game series that rivaled minecraft itself for popularity amongst everyone.

I have tried almost all these on Linux through proton. Dusk - the OG boomer shooter revival game, should be the first game to try to see if you like these kinds of fps.

Amid evil - beautiful looking FPS instead of firing guns you fire unique magical weapons.

Ultrakill - extremely difficult movement shooter with a very interesting setting and lore. Its still not fully complete theres like a final layer thats still cooking but what’s there is worth experiencing.

Selaco - FEAR inspired FPS built in GZDoom somehow. Tight movement, great gunplay, interesting enemy difficulty progression, interactive environments.

Trepang2 - I haven’t played this one but its also FEAR inspired and looks so fun.

Turbo ultrakill- one of the most fun and bombastic FPS ive ever played. Play as a merc who gets turned into a living chainsaw as you ruin the plans of wannabe trancendent techno gods and run away super AI one bullet at a time

Cultic - plays heavy into blood and residents evil 4 inspirations to deliver a very mood atmospheric FPS with the best goddamn dynamite throwing mechanics since OG Blood itself. The single dev is really passionate and is constantly sharing updates to episode 2.

Ion Fury + ion fury aftershock A love letter to the best parts of build engine games of the 90s. Its incredibly well made build engine game with huge sprawling enviroments and too many secrets. The pistol with auto-lockon is hands down the best pistol Ive every used in any game.

  • Photoshop cs2 is free to download and probably works well on wine as its old as hell.

GIMP has always been able to do what I needed more or less. Its got a learning curve and sometimes I still dont 100% how something works but for basic photo editing, meme making, and converting photos to different file types (why is .webp not universally supported yet?) Its pretty good.

tinyllama 1.1b would probably run reasonably fast. Dumb as a rock for sure. But hey its a start! My 2015 t460 thinkpad laptop with an i7 6600U 2.6GhZ duo core was able to do llama 3.1 8B at 1.2T-1.7T/s which while definitely slow at about a word per second. Still, was also just fast enough to have fun in real time with conversation.
